Job Description for: Direct Support Professional/Group Home
Reports To: Program Manager
Substitute – An employee who normally works less than 30 hours in any given work week. An employee in this position is not guaranteed the same number of hours, shifts, or locations in any given work week. This position is non-exempt from overtime pay.
Part Time – An employee who normally works a maximum of 30 hours per week on the same shift and on the same days of the week. This position is non-exempt from overtime pay.
Full Time – An employee who normally works a minimum of 36 hours per week on the same shift and on the same days of the week. This position is non-exempt from overtime pay.
The Direct Support Professional provides supervision and guidance to the individuals with disabilities who reside in the group home by performing a variety of tasks in the areas of personal care, medication managements, and crisis management.
Direct Support Professionals are required to get a pre-employment physical and a physical with a mantoux TB test upon hire.
Employee in this position may be expected to work evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays Employee supports individuals on a regular basis who have an intellectual disability and could have co-occurring mental health disorders that present with challenging behaviors including physical and verbal aggression, self-harm, and property destruction. The employee is occasionally exposed to individuals who have the potential to be carrying a communicable disease.
Must have a valid driver’s license, a high school diploma or GED equivalent or experience in the field, no criminal record, and must be a U.S. citizen.
