Basic Purpose

Improve product quality and consistency by conducting checks at receiving, processing, and shipping. Facilitate the implementation of the GFSI standard by supporting the FSQA role and operational activities in the plant. Monitor the implementation of all Food Safety, Regulatory, and Quality programs within the assigned area of responsibility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform incoming raw material checks, including trailer inspection (cleanliness, temperature, overall conditions), box inspection (intact, undamaged), product appearance & temperature, adherence to product purchasing specifications, and weight.
  • Perform outgoing finished product inspections, including reviewing filled orders for accuracy, inspecting box condition prior to shipping, verifying product temperature, inspecting trailers for cleanliness and condition, and checking box labels, product content, and weight.
  • Perform work-in-progress QC tasks, including equipment calibration (thermometers, scales, antimicrobial application), monitoring metal detector operation, aged inventory, order filler checks, CCP verification, and antimicrobial application monitoring.
  • Assist with inventory control and perform daily steak cutting quality checks, monitoring cutting yield.
  • Conduct QC checks on product samples prior to shipment to ensure proper specifications, appearance, packaging, and order accuracy.
  • Provide employee training when necessary and complete regular reports for statistical or operational analysis.
  • Evaluate returned product conditions for proper disposition.

All duties must be performed in compliance with USDA, DDA, OSHA, state and local regulations, as well as company policies, GMPs, and SSOPs.

Relationships
  • Internal: FSQA department, Warehouse & Processing employees. Interact professionally with employees, customers, and vendors at all levels.
  • External: USDA/FDA officials.
Work Environment

Must work continually in refrigerated environments (35°F-45°F) and in freezer conditions (-10°F to +10°F) with provided apparel. Overtime may be required with or without notice. Finish time depends on work completion.

Minimum Qualifications

At least 1 year of experience in a food production environment.

Education

High School Diploma/GED required.

Certifications/Training

HACCP certification preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with USDA or FDA regulations preferred.
