Job summary

Archer Meat Snacks in California is seeking an FSQA Technician to perform required FSQA functions on time and ensure products meet regulatory and customer standards. You will support calibration, sampling, and record review on the production floor.

The role collaborates with management, supports cross-site initiatives, and participates in audits for SQF, Gluten Free, Organic certifications. Strong communication and team leadership are valued; travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of food or beverage QA/C in USDA/FDA-regulated facilities.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Effective English written and verbal communication; Spanish a plus.
  • Proficient PC skills including MS Office.
  • Familiarity with FSQA software systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform FSQA functions as trained and per established procedures.
  • Incoming raw material, ingredients, packaging material, and pallet inspection.
  • Calibration verification for thermometers, scales, water activity meters, ATP swabs; HACCP CCP review.
  • Handle non-conforming material holds and disposition per FSQA instructions.
  • Pre-shipment record reviews; assist in corrective and preventive actions.

Job description

The FSQA Technician reports to the FSQA Supervisor and is responsible for performing all required FSQA functions properly and on time to ensure consistency in producing Safe & High-Quality products that conform to the regulatory, 3rd party certification, company, and customer standards. The FSQA Technician also participates in special projects and assignments as specified by the FSQA Supervisor or Management.



Responsibilities


  • Perform the following FSQA functions as trained, as per established procedures and on time:

    • Incoming raw material, ingredients, packaging material, and pallet inspection.

    • Daily functions such as thermometer calibration inspection, scale calibration verification, water activity meter calibration, ATP swabbing and reader calibration, pre-operational / operational / GMP monitoring, HACCP CCP record review, fill weight Monitoring, X-ray and/or metal detector calibration verification and monitoring, label printing and review, retention sample collection and data entry as per established procedures.

    • Periodic functions such as lab sample submission, gluten test, environmental swabbing, air quality collection, potable water quality collection, pest control device inspection, facility GMP audit, retention sample shelf-life evaluation, and allergen validation as per established procedures.

    • Place non-conforming material on hold and facilitate hold disposition as per FSQA Management’s instructions.

    • Perform pre-shipment record review as assigned by FSQA Supervisor or Management.

    • Assist FSQA Management in troubleshooting, corrective and preventive action development, and implementation.

    • Perform job / GMP / food safety training for new employees, as required by FSQA Supervisor or Management.



  • Proactively communicating important findings, observations, and results with concerned personnel.

  • Participate in special projects and assignments as specified by the FSQA Supervisor or Management.

  • Collaborate with company-operated sites, co-manufacturers, and 3rd party locations to achieve and maintain regulatory compliance and 3rd party certifications like those for SQF, Gluten Free, Organic, etc.



Education


  • High School Diploma / GED / Associate’s degree



Experience


  • 1 -3 years of food or beverage QA/C experience in the USDA and/or FDA-regulated manufacturing facilities.

  • Basic mathematical skills.

  • Effective English written and verbal communication skills.

  • Spanish language skills (verbal and/or written) are a plus

  • Proficient user of PC, including MS Outlook / Excel / Word / PowerPoint / Chats.

  • SafetyChain / Redzone / TraceGains / MasterControl or other FSQA and productivity software user experience.



Certifications


  • HACCP certification, SQF or BRC knowledge.

Physical Requirements


  • This role requires frequent presence on the production floor and may involve exposure to noise, temperature fluctuations, and other manufacturing conditions.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.

  • Requires the ability to walk, stand, bend, stoop, and reach.

  • Visual acuity requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception, particularly for work with computers and troubleshooting equipment.
