Qualifications

Description

The Care Team Specialist – Embalming is responsible for the preparation, preservation, and presentation of decedents in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements. This role ensures all embalming and preparation processes are completed with the highest level of care, professionalism, and attention to detail.


This position operates as part of the Care Team and is cross-trained to support transfer and cremation functions as needed. While the primary focus is embalming and preparation, this role contributes to overall Care Center operations to ensure seamless service and team support.


Requirements

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & OWNERSHIP

Embalming & Preparation (Primary Ownership)


  • Perform embalming procedures in accordance with state regulations and company standards

  • Prepare decedents for viewing, burial, or cremation

  • Apply restorative art, cosmetics, and dressing to achieve appropriate presentation

  • Ensure all preparation work reflects dignity, care, and professionalism


Specialized Preparation & Compliance (Primary Ownership)


  • Perform specialized procedures for infectious cases, trauma, or out-of-state transport

  • Ensure all embalming processes meet legal and regulatory requirements

  • Maintain accurate and complete embalming reports and documentation

  • Follow all safety, sanitation, and chemical handling protocols


Identification & Documentation (Primary Ownership)


  • Verify identification of decedents prior to all preparation procedures

  • Maintain accurate records of personal effects and preparation details

  • Ensure all documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant


Care Center Standards & Quality (Primary Ownership)


  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and readiness of preparation areas

  • Ensure all equipment and instruments are properly maintained and sanitized

  • Uphold consistent preparation standards across all cases

Minimum Education:


  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Mortuary science education preferred or required (based on licensing)


Experience:


  • Licensed Embalmer

  • Experience in embalming and preparation preferred
