Job summary

Google DeepMind is seeking a Research Engineer, Tech Lead Manager, Frontier and AGI Security to lead cyber defense research and develop agentic tools across frontier models. You will work on large-scale experiments, collaborating with research programs worldwide, while guiding teams and embedding security into AI systems.

You will apply ML, RL, and cybersecurity knowledge to build secure software, prototypes to scalable infra, and contribute to the Gemini safety program.

Qualifications

• PhD degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of cybersecurity experience (e.g., red teaming, vulnerability identification, reverse engineering, black-box evaluation).
• 5 years of experience developing agentic tools.
• 2 years of experience as a people manager.
• 2 years of experience in software development or engineering.

Responsibilities

• Improve adversarial evaluation techniques and auto-red teaming.
• Drive improvements for out-of-model defenses such as classifiers and introspection probes.
• Collaborate with safety engineering to develop capabilities from adversarial research.
• Contribute to Gemini’s cyber defense capabilities.
• Understand path from research to production while impacting Gemini releases.
