Compass is seeking a Software Engineer II for the Transaction Journey group in New York. You will apply frontend expertise to build a transaction management platform, focusing on forms and eSign products, delivering features end-to-end and collaborating with design and product teams.

Ideal candidates have 2–4 years in software engineering, strong React/NodeJS experience, and a passion for high-quality, usable software. The role emphasizes collaboration, testing, and continuous learning.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• 2-4 years of software engineering experience delivering high-performance apps.
• 2+ years with TypeScript, JavaScript, and HTML/CSS.
• 2+ years with React and NodeJS.
• Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms.
• Attention to design with customer-focused delivery.
• Experience with Cypress and Jest for testing.
• Interest in AI-assisted development tools like Copilot or ClaudeCode.
• Nice to have backend experience in Java, Go or Python.
• Nice to have AWS, Kafka, and modern CI/CD tooling.

Responsibilities

• Develop core Frontend components for the Forms and eSign products.
• Drive Quality and Testing with comprehensive tests to prevent regressions.
• Enhance Operational Excellence with monitoring and on-call participation.
• Deliver Features End-to-End, ensuring security, stability and testability.
• Act as a Component SME and assist peers with internal tools.
• Collaborate in Agile Workflows through code reviews and planning.
