Openly is hiring a Frontend Engineer II to build and refine the insurance platform interface for agents and policyholders. You will design, implement, test, and maintain user experiences across internal and external workflows.

The role emphasizes Vue.js, modern JavaScript, and collaboration with design, product, and backend teams in a remote-friendly US model.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional/production experience developing web applications.
• Strong React/Vue fundamentals and the ability to explain technical challenges to diverse audiences.
• Professional experience with Vue.js and completing a code challenge in Vue as part of interview.

Job Details

We're hiring a Frontend Engineer II to be a part of our technology team to build the interface for Openly's insurance platform. You will play a critical role in designing, building, testing, and maintaining the user experiences and the overall technology ecosystem that power our insurance products and customer experiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Enhance the web interface that agents and internal team members use to access our insurance platform
• Consistently reduce complexity and simplify technical design
• Identify risks and opportunities, and create solutions with the team
• Implement design/UX initiatives through collaboration with the Product Experience team
• Develop interfaces for internal users to administer agencies, agents, and policies
• Influence the team by helping to develop and deliver the technical and architectural vision
• Nurture relationships across the team to identify and improve internal processes
• Collaborate with internal partners to leverage APIs that power our best-in-class user experiences
• Participate in daily stand-ups and weekly 1:1's

Requirements

• 2+ years of professional/production experience developing web applications
• Ability to explain technical challenges to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Professional/production experience with Vue.js - Please note that part of the interview process includes completing a code challenge in Vue.
• Proficiency in modern JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3
• Keep up with major frontend & UX design trends & their implementations
• Understanding of RESTful & GraphQL API integrations
• Excellent communication skills
• Familiarity with Unit Testing

• Research/Data Science: R, ArcGIS, Jupyter Notebooks, & Python
• Data: GCP GCS, BigQuery, Composer/Airflow, Cloud Functions, Postgres, SQL, Python, Go, Aiven Debezium and Kafka, Fivetran
• Infrastructure: Google Cloud, specifically Cloud Run, Kubernetes, Pub/Sub, BigQuery, and CloudSQL, managed with Terraform. We use GitHub for code hosting, DataDog for monitoring, and CircleCI for running our CI/CD pipelines.
• Remote work tools: Slack, Zoom, Donut
