Edison Scientific, Inc. is seeking a Frontend Engineer to help build our integrated research environment and design a UX that empowers scientists to weave AI into discovery.

This on-site role sits in our San Francisco (Dogpatch) office as part of the App team. You will architect, implement, and optimize the front-end for a data-heavy discovery platform, translating AI-driven workflows into intuitive experiences while collaborating with product and research teams to anticipate needs and build a

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional experience in front-end engineering, shipping complex, data-visualization heavy web apps.
• Deep experience in JavaScript, React.js and TypeScript.
• Strong understanding of browser rendering pipelines, performance profiling and optimization techniques.
• Experience with real-time data handling (WebSockets, GraphQL subscriptions) and interactive visualizations (D3.js, Deck.gl, Three.js).
• Ability to translate scientific/technical requirements into elegant visualizations and interfaces.
• Experience building design systems and reusable component libraries.
• Knowledge of accessibility standards and responsive design principles.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, implement, and optimize the front-end for our platform with a focus on performance and scalable UI patterns.
• Translate complex AI-driven workflows into intuitive user experiences.
• Collaborate with product and research teams to anticipate user needs and features.
• Develop and maintain a modular design system.
• Profile and optimize rendering performance, asset loading, and interaction responsiveness across browsers/devices.
• Integrate real-time data visualizations and dynamic interfaces for scientists on the platform.
• Conduct code reviews and contribute to front-end architecture decisions.
