Job summary

General Dynamics - Bath Iron Works seeks a seasoned supervisor to lead a multi-disciplined crew responsible for maintenance of production equipment and facilities. You will oversee mechanical, electrical, and piping functions, ensuring projects run on time and within budget.

You will collaborate with the Department Manager, drive continuous improvement, and uphold safety, quality, and customer service standards across shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience leading teams in plant maintenance.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and resolve conflicts.
• Experience with maintenance management systems (e.g., Maximo).

Responsibilities

• Lead a multi-disciplined crew of mechanical, construction, piping and electrical staff.
• Oversee preventative maintenance on production equipment and building systems.
• Coordinate daily and long-term projects with the Department Manager.
• Maintain credibility with the customer, peers, and mechanics.
• Manage day-to-day crew operations, time accounting and personnel interactions.
• Support weekend duty on rotation (approx. 3 weekends per year).
• Ensure safety and OSHA/ANSI/NIOSH compliance.
• Collaborate with vendors and customers; facilitate union agreements.

We offer a competitive salary for this role, with an expected range of $88,000-$115,000 per year. The final offer will depend on your experience, skills, and overall qualifications. Key Responsibilities

• The candidate will be responsible for running a multi-disciplined crew made up of mechanical, construction, piping and electrical employees. Candidate will oversee preventative maintenance on production equipment and building infrastructure/systems.
• The candidate needs strong background in mechanical and electrical field while working closely with Department Manager to ensure daily and long-term projects are carried out.
• Candidate will maintain a high level of credibility with the customer, peers, and mechanics.

Additional responsibilities will include

• Completing assignments within budget constraints and scheduled objectives.
• Management of Day-to-Day Crew operations, time accounting and personnel interactions.
• Being the face of facilities and the first line of response on second shift.
• Coordinating and facilitating resolution in accordance with the union agreement.

Safety Leadership

• Ensure Safety is the top priority in everything we do.
• Interpretation and verification of OSHA/ANSI/NIOSH and other standards.

Project Execution

• Completing assignments within budget constraints and scheduled objectives.
• Management of Day-to-Day Crew operations, time accounting and personnel interactions.
• Required to support Weekend Duty on Rotation (Estimate 3 weekends per year).

Required

• High School Diploma or GED.

Preferred

• Graduate BIW Apprentice or Associate's Degree in a Mechanical field.
• Previous experience in leadership roles.

Required

• Demonstrated ability to work closely with production and operations to support operations while successfully maintaining the plant and equipment effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated experience leading teams doing plant & preventative maintenance.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Demonstrated ability to manage conflict.
• Demonstrated ability to identify, develop, and implement cost reduction initiatives

Preferred

• Computer proficiency w/ maintenance management system software (ex. Maximo), Time accounting & Microsoft Office Suite.
• 10 Years of plant maintenance experience.
• Experience and at least basic understanding of plant piping & electrical systems.
• Knowledge of rolling stock equipment, and heavy equipment maintenance.
• Fabrication background.
• Demonstrated knowledge of crane maintenance.
• Experience in maintenance of complex machine shop equipment to include; lathes, grinders, milling machines, burning machines, presses, brakes, and benders as well as experience with CNC equipment.
