Job summary

Lazy Acres Natural Market is seeking a Front-End Manager in San Diego to supervise the front-end team, plan and direct work, and support guest service excellence. The role emphasizes leadership, scheduling, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and efficiency across the front-end operations.

You will oversee training, performance reviews, and program implementation, including customer service initiatives, while managing costs and ensuring smooth daily operations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all essential duties of the front-end.
  • Train and develop front-end staff; maintain training materials.
  • Ensure consistency and implementation of all programs, including customer service training.
  • Manage labor costs by controlling hours and supply costs; monitor shrink and theft.
  • Create fair schedules; execute Front-End Lines staffing.
  • Ensure self-checkouts are operational, open, and staffed.
  • Control cash handling and balancing of drawers; secure cash:**
  • Maintain front-end cleanliness and organization; manage go-backs.
  • Keep front-end area neat, organized, and stocked.
  • Maintain parking lot cleanliness and cart corrals.
  • Ensure front-end equipment is in good order and serviced.
  • Maintain inventory on front-end merchandisers and respond to customer issues.
  • Support holiday, weekend, and evening availability requirements.

Job Summary

The Front-End Manager is responsible for the supervision and coordination of activities of the Front-end and its staff. Responsibilities include; but are not limited to, planning, assigning, and directing work; staff development, performance reviews, scheduled writing, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Required to perform all essential duties of the front-end.
  • Responsible for the training and overall development of employees working in the front-end department; maintains “Need to Know” folder
  • Responsible for consistency and implementation of all programs. Including Customer service training.
  • Manages costs by controlling hours on the front-end and supply costs; monitoring shrink, and theft.
  • Ensures that schedule writing is done fairly and objectively to drive the needs of the business; and properly managed through execution of the Front-End Lines
  • Ensure Self checkouts are operational, open and staffed during business hours.
  • Responsible for controlling labor results, including overtime as directed by the Store Director.
  • Follows and implements correct accounting procedures for all voids, returns, exchanges, & department transfers.
  • Performs cash register audits as required & reports results to Manager of Service
  • Ensures that all opening and closing procedures are performed accurately. Procedures include but are not limited to; auditing safe; assuring equipment is in good, working order; stocking check stand area with retail/impulse products, paper bags, register receipt tape, etc.; setting up individual daily schedules, setting up all audit sheets.
  • Responsible for accurate counting, balancing, and securing of change drawer, safe, assigned cash register; and “pick-ups” & “loans” made to cashier's registers.
  • Responsible for keeping the front-end clean and tidy; manages “go-backs”
  • Required to keep front end area neat, clean, & organized.
  • Required to maintain parking lot clean with shopping carts in corrals
  • Assures all front-end equipment is in good working order; arranges for all equipment to be fixed and cleaned in a timely manner.
  • Maintains inventory on front-end merchandisers including, receiving, stocking, and merchandising.
  • Listens to customer complaints and addresses them, examines returned merchandise, and resolves problems to restore and promote good public relations.
  • Availability requirements include but are not limited to; days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Designated “rescue” shopper for Amazon
  • Audits Lost and found Log
  • Maintains Emergency Procedures folder
  • Manages Produce and Deli Code Tests
