Job summary

GFL Environmental in Durham, NC is seeking a Front-End Commercial Driver (CDL) to join our local fleet. You will safely operate front-load trucks, handle hydraulic lifting, and serve as the face of our service to commercial partners on nearby routes.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections for safety and performance.

What You'll Do

• Command the Controls: Safely operate front-end loading trucks and hydraulic fork systems to lift and empty commercial waste containers across the Durham area.
• Master Commercial Routes: Navigate local commercial sites, business parks, and tight urban spaces with care and efficiency.
• Represent the Brand: Deliver friendly, dependable service as the direct face of GFL to our commercial business partners.
• Drive Safety First: Perform thorough pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to maintain optimal safety and truck performance.
• Stay Connected: Communicate closely with dispatchers and operations teams to solve route challenges on the fly.

What We're Looking For

• Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
• Experience: 1+ years of commercial driving experience (front-load, waste industry, or heavy vehicle experience is a major plus!).
• Precision Skills: Comfortable operating joystick controls and hydraulic lifting mechanisms in varied environments.
• Safety Mindset: Uncompromising commitment to safety guidelines, vehicle upkeep, and road regulations.
• Physical Readiness: Ability to step in and out of the cab frequently and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Location & Schedule

• Primary Location: Durham, NC (Local routes, full-time hours, early morning shifts with overtime potential)
