Job summary

CommUnityCare Health Centers seeks a Front Desk/Administrative Assistant at our Austin clinic to be the first contact for patients, staff, and guests. You will handle registration, scheduling, and insurance verification to support smooth clinic operations.

You will work with clinical teams to improve patient flow, ensure confidentiality, and use EMR and clinic software to manage appointments and payments. A HS diploma and 1+ year admin experience required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • At least one year of demonstrated experience in an administrative position.
  • Experience with healthcare software/EMR systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Open front office and perform duties associated with this function.
  • Welcome, greet, and assist patients in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Schedule patient appointments accurately using the clinic system.
  • Answer incoming calls and route information as needed.
  • Register patients by entering demographics and insurance data in the EMR.
  • Verify insurance coverage and explain payment options (sliding scale, Medicare, Medicaid).
  • Collect deposits or co-pays/deductibles prior to provider visit.
  • Close and balance end-of-day deposits and post payments.
  • Utilize clinic software (i2i, Tableau, Vital Interactions, Patient Portal) and report generation.
  • Maintain HIPAA confidentiality and collaborate with care teams to optimize patient flow.
