Job description

Job Title: Front Desk Assistant, Addison Center (PT), CP1N20943CNTRS

The College of DuPage, located 27 miles west of downtown Chicago, is seeking a part-time Front Desk Assistant for the Addison Center. We are a comprehensive community college dedicated to student success, diversity, and an inclusive environment. Our campus offers nine associate degrees and various certificates, with pathways to baccalaureate programs.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide exceptional customer service by assisting students, faculty, staff, and community members with inquiries both in person and over the phone.
  • Assist with day-to-day operations of the center in the supervisor’s absence.
  • Register students, including internet registration and processing late registration permits and withdrawals.
  • Schedule advising appointments and make reminder calls to students.
  • Respond to emergencies and notify appropriate college offices.
  • Secure the building at closing, including locking doors and activating security systems.
  • Maintain effective communication and provide referrals to other college services.
  • Update student residency status and access course and enrollment information.
  • Maintain supplies and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma required; some college coursework and customer service training preferred.
  • At least one year of customer service experience required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
  • Knowledge of Windows, MS Office, and keyboarding skills required.
  • Experience in a higher education environment preferred.
Working Conditions:

The position involves working with computers, printers, telephones, copiers, audio-visual equipment, fax, and scanners in a busy office setting. Customer contact is frequent, requiring good listening skills and command of English. A background check is required.

Additional Details:
  • Hybrid remote work eligible.
  • Starting pay: $17.59/hr, dependent on experience.
