Job description

Front Desk Agents are responsible for greeting and registering guests, providing outstanding guest service during their stay, and settling the guest's account upon completion of their stay. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Registering guests and making or modifying reservations
  • Handling hotel operator and concierge duties
  • Providing attentive, courteous, and efficient service to all guests before arrival and throughout their stay
  • Maximizing room revenue and occupancy

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in a related field is helpful
  • Experience in a hotel or related field preferred
  • Positive and upbeat personality with a desire to deliver outstanding customer service
  • Ability to multi-task, be detail-oriented, and problem-solve effectively
  • Clear communication skills
  • Ability to evaluate options quickly and accurately
  • Work well under stress and high-pressure situations
  • Effective in handling workplace problems, including anticipating, preventing, and resolving issues
  • Active listening skills to understand and clarify issues raised by guests and coworkers
  • Ability to work with financial data and perform basic arithmetic functions

Responsibilities:

  • Approach all guest and staff interactions in a friendly, service-oriented manner
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming
  • Maintain regular attendance as per hotel scheduling
  • Comply with hotel policies and standards for safe and efficient operations
  • Greet and welcome guests at the front desk
  • Operate the telephone switchboard and meet performance standards
  • Handle guest inquiries and requests efficiently and courteously
  • Establish good communication and teamwork with colleagues and other departments
  • Be familiar with rates, packages, promotions, and in-house groups
  • Take reservations following proper procedures
  • Operate and understand all relevant front desk computer systems
  • Log and deliver packages, mail, messages, and other items as needed
  • Use proper radio etiquette when communicating with staff
  • Assist with guest requests such as luggage, newspapers, messages, or amenities
  • Stay informed about hotel amenities, local attractions, and events
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, including maintaining cleanliness and safety standards
