Job Summary
Greets and registers guests, provides prompt and courteous service, closes out guest accounts upon completion of stay, and ensures an exceptional guest experience to meet high standards of quality.
Essential Job Functions
- Greet customers immediately with a friendly and sincere welcome, using positive and clear communication. Listen to understand requests, respond appropriately, and provide accurate information such as outlet hours and local attractions.
- Complete the registration process by inputting and retrieving information from a computer system, confirming details like number of guests and room rate. Make appropriate room selections based on guest needs. Code electronic keys, certificates, and coupons as needed. Requires continual standing and movement throughout front office areas.
- Verify and imprint credit cards for authorization using electronic acceptance methods. Handle cash, make change, and balance the house bank. Accept and record vouchers, travelers’ checks, and other payments. Perform accurate arithmetic functions using a calculator. Post charges to guest rooms and accounts using the computer.
- Answer the telephone promptly with clear English communication. Input messages into the computer, retrieve messages, and communicate content to guests. Retrieve mail, packages, and facsimiles as requested.
- Close guest accounts at checkout and ensure guest satisfaction. Address dissatisfaction by researching and resolving issues within established guidelines, or escalate to a supervisor.
- Handle guest complaints by conducting thorough research to develop effective solutions. Remain calm and alert during emergencies and busy periods. Keep corridors and service areas neat at all times.
- Adhere to all company policies and safety procedures, including fire prevention and emergency protocols. Use protective equipment and report unsafe conditions, accidents, injuries, or property damage to supervisors.
- Maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance as outlined in the team member handbook.
- Assist other front desk personnel as needed and perform any other duties requested by supervisors or managers.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- High school diploma preferred; equivalent education and experience considered.
- Prior hospitality experience is preferred but not required.
- Proficient in calculator use and basic mathematical calculations.
- Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Ability to accurately input information into a computer system.
- Hearing and visual ability to observe and respond to emergency situations.
Physical Demands
- Stand and move throughout the front office area for 95% of the shift.
- Lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Perform occasional twisting, bending, reaching, and walking.
- Frequent talking, hearing, seeing, and smiling.
