Job summary

HandsOn Sacramento is looking for volunteers to assist their Friendly Visitor/In-Home Respite Program, aimed at supporting caregiving families in improving their quality of life. Volunteers will engage with seniors through conversation, light exercises, and shared recreational activities like watching movies or reading together.

Ideal candidates must be at least 18 years old and exhibit a compassionate approach to caregiving. This role helps relieve the burdens of caregiving while enhancing seniors' mental well-being.

• Minimum age requirement of 18 years or older.

Job description

The Friendly Visitor/In-Home Respite Program is here to support caregiving families and to improve their quality of life. We’d love your support in helping caregivers to be relieved from their caregiving duties, to relax their hands and feet, be a friendly companion to the older adults, and thank them for the work they’ve done.

Goals:

• Have conversations and provide companionship
• Light exercise, short-distance walks
• Read, watch movies/TV together

Managing seniors’ mental health can be time‑consuming and stress‑inducing. That’s why, through this program, we are treating caregivers with the respect they deserve and acknowledging everything they’ve done for seniors. They are our equals!

After Expressing interest in one or more dates and times you'd like to volunteer, your availability will be sent to the Opportunity Leader who will review and confirm when you should attend.
