Job summary

Food City is hiring at its La Follette location in Tennessee. The role emphasizes friendly, customer-first service and teamwork within the Produce department.

Responsibilities include assisting the Produce Manager with ordering, receiving, displaying products, and maintaining freshness and safety standards. On-site attendance and adherence to company policies are required.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to meet standard Physical, Mental, and Visual demands.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions, perform routine tasks and interact with various individuals daily.
• Ability to attend on-site work during scheduled shifts to adhere to company time and attendance policies.

Responsibilities

• Provide efficient, courteous customer service in support of Food City’s mission.
• Assist Produce Manager with ordering, receiving, and displaying products for processing.
• Rotate merchandise during stocking to ensure freshness and quality.
• Set up and maintain cut vegetables and fruits as directed by the Produce Manager.
• Ensure all food safety policies and procedures are followed.
• Order supplies as directed by the Produce Manager.
• Assist and coordinate the training of fresh pack associates.
• Maintain quality and freshness of all fresh pack products.
• Maintain COOL labels daily on required items.
• Enforce and maintain the company food safety program.
• Prepare and package fresh produce.
• Keep workstation and surrounding area neat and clean.
• Sanitize and clean the department at least twice daily.
• Attend on-site work during scheduled shifts to comply with time and attendance policies.

Essential Job Functions:

• Ensure efficient and courteous customer service at all times in support of the company mission to “Run the Best Store in Town!”
• Maintain a positive attitude; create an atmosphere of friendliness and fun through flexibility and teamwork.
• Generate a positive, friendly, and fun working environment with a customer first initiative by greeting and speaking to customers, provide prompt, courteous, and efficient customer service.
• Assist produce manager in ordering, receiving, and displaying all product for processing
• Rotate all merchandise when stocking to ensure freshness and quality
• Set up and maintain cut vegetable and cut fruit sections, trim corn, package salad tomatoes as directed by the Produce Manager
• Ensure all food safety policies and procedures are being followed
• Order supplies as directed by the Produce Manager
• Assist and coordinate the training of fresh pack associates as directed by the Produce Manager
• Maintain quality and freshness of all fresh pack products
• Ensure all items required to have a COOL label are maintained daily
• Enforce and maintain the company food safety program
• Trim and package fresh produce
• Keep workstation and area around workstation neat and clean
• Department is to be sanitized and cleaned at least twice a day
• Responsible for attending on-site work during scheduled shifts to adhere to company time and attendance policies
