Job summary

El Rancho Supermercado in Dallas, TX seeks a Cut Fruit Produce Clerk to prepare, package, and display fresh cut fruits while ensuring quality and safety standards. You will assist customers and maintain sanitation in the cutting area with attention to detail and teamwork.

Responsibilities include assisting with inventory, labeling, and coordinating with produce/bakery teams on displays and promotions; lifting up to 50 lbs and flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum one year experience in produce or prepared foods.
• Produce retail background preferred.
• Knowledge of different types of fruits, their seasonality, and proper handling techniques.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with customers and team members.
• Ability to lift and carry moderate to heavy loads and stand for extended periods.
• Basic math skills for weighing and pricing products accurately.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Greet and build rapport with vendors.
• Display a friendly and outgoing attitude through good eye contact and body language.
• Respond to employees'/customers' questions in an effective manner.
• Follow safety and sanitation procedures to ensure quality service and products for our customers.
• Prepare and cut a variety of fruits such as melons, pineapples, strawberries, and oranges according to established guidelines and safety procedures.
• Package cut fruits in containers or trays, ensuring proper labeling and pricing.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in the cutting area, including regularly cleaning equipment, surfaces, and utensils.
• Monitor inventory levels of cut fruits and communicate with management to ensure adequate supply.
• Rotate stock and remove any expired or damaged products from display.
• Assist customers with inquiries regarding cut fruit products, including providing information on availability, ingredients, and preparation methods.
• Follow food safety guidelines to ensure the freshness and quality of all cut fruit products.
• Collaborate with other departments, such as produce and bakery, to coordinate displays and promotions.
• Operate cutting equipment and other tools safely and efficiently, following manufacturer instructions.
• Respond promptly and courteously to customer needs.
• May perform other duties as assigned or required.
