Job summary

Job description

Position Overview: Responsible for transporting freight within the dock area, moving cargo to and from trailers for loading and unloading.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate motorized and manual equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks for freight handling.
• Verify freight documentation for accuracy, including type, weight, and hazardous materials.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, and ropes.
• Recoup or repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Complete required documentation and reports accurately.
• Assist customers with freight and related documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required, adhering to safety and operational standards.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications And Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; must be at least 18 years old.
• Experience in warehousing, freight handling, or forklift operations preferred.
• Ability to perform basic math, lift and carry freight of varying weights, and open trailer doors requiring significant force.
• Strong physical ability to bend, twist, squat, push, and pull freight throughout shifts.
• Effective communication skills, able to work independently or as part of a team.
• Previous dock or warehouse experience is advantageous.
