Job summary

FedEx Freight in Billings, MT is seeking a dock worker to transport freight across the dock area to and from trailers for loading. Starting pay is $21.16 per hour with early and late shifts.

You will operate forklift, pallet jack and hand truck, verify freight docs, secure loads, and assist customers. Prior warehousing experience preferred; must be 18+, HS diploma preferred.

This role requires physical effort, ability to lift up to 100 pounds, work in varied weather, and follow FedEx policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Prior warehousing or freight handling experience preferred.
• Forklift/yard mule hostler duties experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds and to open trailer doors with up to 75 pounds of lift force repeatedly.
• Able to bend, twist, squat, and push/pull freight.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred.

Essential Functions

• Perform freight handling using appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including but not limited to: forklift, pallet jack and hand truck.
• Verify documentation matches freight description (e.g. type, weight, hazardous materials), using current electronic or manual system.
• Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies (e.g. pallets, straps, rope).
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures.
• Perform other duties as required.

• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.
• Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred.

Working Conditions

• Dock environment; exposure to varied weather conditions, exhaust, fumes, dust, noise.
• Hours may vary due to operational need.
• Frequent contact with service center personnel; fast-paced, deadline oriented.
