Job summary

Estes Express is seeking candidates for a dock worker role at our service center. Responsibilities include loading/unloading freight with forklifts, strapping and padding items to prevent damage, and accurately recording freight condition on arrival.

Additional duties include pre/post-shift inspections of dock equipment, maintaining regular attendance, and performing other duties as needed to support safety and operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent background.
• Must be 17+ years of age.
• Experience in the transportation industry preferred.
• Stable employment history preferred.
• Prior operation of a forklift or forklift certification preferred.
• Must be able to push or pull a loaded pallet jack and/or hand truck with a minimum load of 70 lbs.
• Physical activities include standing, walking, lifting and twisting.
• Must be able to work all shifts, including overtime and weekends; must be dependable.
• Must be able to lift approximately 70 lbs., or more if required by essential functions.
• Must comply with company policies, rules and code of conduct.
• Must interact well with others and work independently or in a team.
• Must meet deadlines and read/interpret safety rules and procedures.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Properly load and unload freight using forklifts or other equipment.
• Strap, brace and pad freight to prevent damage or shifting.
• Record the condition of freight as it arrives at the service center.
• Perform pre-shift and post-shift inspection of dock equipment.
• Maintain regular attendance.
• Perform any other duties as assigned due to safety or operational needs.
