Job summary

XPO is hiring a Freight Classification Specialist Lead in Minnesota to review inspection reports, conduct dock inspections, verify BOL descriptions, and gather shipment data while researching NMFC descriptions to assign the correct class. You will issue NMFC-based corrections and upload documentation for review.

The role emphasizes meticulous data collection, strong communication, and the ability to handle a variety of shifts, including days, nights, and weekends.

Qualifications

  • 4 years of work or military experience
  • Able to explain and document classification corrections for all involved parties
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite
  • Able to effectively navigate the internet using specific keywords for research
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills
  • Available to work a variety of shifts, including days, nights, and weekends

Responsibilities

  • Review inspection reports to identify potential issues
  • Conduct inspections of shipments on the dock utilizing handheld devices
  • Review BOL and billing descriptions to verify accuracy
  • Gather information related to the shipment, including dimensions, pictures, and commodity characteristics
  • Research commodity information using the National Motor Freight Classification (NMFC) for applicable description and class
  • Issue document corrections based on the applicable provisions from the NMFC
  • Upload documents/pictures into the image system for review
  • Maintain the reports necessary to measure corrections activity and revenue recovery

  • Expected pay range: $27.17 to $35.79 per hour. Actual compensation may vary due to factors such as experience and skill set

Freight Classification Specialist Leads are required to
  • Lift objects of various shapes, sizes and weights frequently up to 50 lbs. and occasionally greater than 75 lbs.
  • Stand, sit or walk for extended periods
  • Reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat and kneel
