Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, SC, part of HCA Healthcare, seeks a Freestanding ER Float Pool RN for night shift PRN, floating between all Free Standing ED locations. The RN coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered care in collaboration with medical providers, documents care, and educates patients and families about conditions and follow-up measures.

Requires RN licensure and relevant certifications; minimum 2 years ED experience.

Qualifications

• Active RN license and nursing diploma.
• ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications required.
• Minimum 2 years of ED nursing experience.
• RN or APRN licensure accepted for eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient pain and promote effective pain management with reassessments.
• Perform procedures and document care in the patient record.
• Respond promptly to patient requests and anticipate needs.
• Educate patients and families about condition, treatment, medications, and follow-up measures.
• Instruct on non-medicinal follow-up measures and self-management.

Job Summary And Qualifications

This is a night shift PRN position floating between all Free Standing ED locations

The Freestanding Emergency Room Float Pool Registered Nurse (RN) coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the Freestanding ER RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The Freestanding ER RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.

• Assesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention.
• Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
• Performs exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests. Strives to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively.
• Teaches patients/families/caregivers about patient medical condition, patient status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures. Translates complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.
• Teaches patients/families/caregivers about any non-medicinal follow-up measures, such as healthy diet and exercise, disease prevention, and/or other lifestyle changes. Prepares patients and families/caregivers for future self-management.

What qualifications you will need:

• Registered Nurse Diploma
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support
• Basic Cardiac Life Support
• PALS Pediatric Adv Life Support
• (APRN) Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, or (RN) Registered Nurse
• Minimum 2 years of ED Experience required
