Doing Things Media is seeking a freelance Content Creator for Overheard, responsible for ideating, writing, producing, and publishing content that captures the online moment in 2026.

You’ll work on editorial writing, social-first video, and related formats, collaborating with editors and social leads to keep the brand fresh, funny, and platform-native across networks.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of experience in editorial, social content creation, media, publishing, entertainment, or a similar creative field.
• Exceptional writing skills with a comedic sensibility and the Overheard voice.

Responsibilities

• Publish Dating Content on a consistent schedule.
• Write sharp, witty, brand-aligned captions, headlines, copy, and scripts in the Overheard voice.
• Shoot, edit, and package low-lift short-form videos using an iPhone or consumer-grade equipment.
• Bring fresh ideas to pitch meetings for editorial posts, video franchises, and comedic formats.
• Uphold tone, POV, aesthetics, and writing style across assets.
• Stay on top of internet culture, trends and dating-app conversations to stay relevant.
• Collaborate with Creative, Social, and Editorial teams on launches and experiments.
• Maintain high editorial standards and deliver on deadlines.

Role Overview

Overheard is looking for a freelance Content Creator to drive our day-to-day pop culture and national content. This person will ideate, write, produce, and publish content that feels unmistakably “Overheard”. Quick-witted, culturally plugged-in, and ultra-relatable, while keeping every post tuned to the specific chaos, humor, and joys of life and the internet in 2026.

You’ll work across written editorial, social-first video, and supporting formats to keep the Overheard feed fresh, funny, and dynamic. This is a project-based / freelance role ideal for someone who lives and breathes internet culture and pop culture discourse, moves fast, and can turn everyday moments into scroll-stopping content.

You’ll collaborate closely with the Editor, Social Leads, and the broader Overheard team, contributing ideas in pitch meetings, helping build new formats, and upholding brand consistency across platforms.

Responsibilities

Publish Dating Content

• Write and publish original, on-voice content for Overheard on a consistent schedule.
• Write sharp, witty, brand-aligned captions, headlines, copy, and scripts in the Overheard voice, tailored to pop culture, work, and entertainment.
• Ensure every post feels platform-native and culturally relevant.

Video Production + Editing

• Shoot, edit, and package low-lift short-form videos using an iPhone or consumer-grade equipment.
• Maintain a nimble, social-first production style that matches Overheard’s pace and aesthetic.

Content Ideation + Development

• Bring fresh ideas to pitch meetings for editorial posts, video franchises, and comedic formats rooted in pop culture.

Brand + Voice Stewardship

• Uphold Overheard’s tone, POV, aesthetics, and writing style across every asset.
• Stay on top of internet culture, trending humor formats, and dating-app conversations to keep the account relevant and timely.
• Partner with Creative, Social, and Editorial teams to support launches and content experiments.

Quality + Process

• Maintain high editorial standards for accuracy, clarity, and comedic alignment.
• Stay organized across a fast-moving content pipeline and deliver on deadlines.
• Contribute to evolving best practices and creative playbooks as Overheard grows.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of experience in editorial, social content creation, media, publishing, entertainment, or a similar creative field.
• Exceptional writing skills with a comedic sensibility, able to nail Overheard’s specific voice (quick, sharp, observational, irreverent, but never try-hard).
• Deep familiarity with dating culture: dating apps, modern relationship dynamics, and the conversations people are having about them online.
• Proven ability to ideate and execute social-first content across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and other emerging platforms.
• Comfortable shooting and editing video on iPhone or consumer-grade equipment.
• Strong understanding of meme culture and internet trends, and how to translate everyday dating moments into compelling content.
• Highly organized, able to manage multiple content streams and hit deadlines independently.
• Collaborative and communicative, excited to pitch, brainstorm, and build new formats.
• Bonus: familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut, or other lightweight video editing tools.

Engagement Details

• Freelance / project-based; hours and cadence to be scoped with the Editor based on content volume.
