Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Fraud Risk Intern in New York to join the Payments Risk Management team. You will write SQL queries, build dashboards, and analyze risk signals to help protect customers from fraud across ACH, card, and real-time payments.

You'll collaborate with Product, Data Science, and Engineering to refine risk controls, present findings to leadership, and improve user experience while maintaining security.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree or certificate in technology, finance, or analytics.
• 1+ years of hands-on SQL experience through coursework, projects, or internships.
• Ability to translate data into clear, structured recommendations.
• Familiarity with dashboarding tools such as Tableau.

Responsibilities

• Write SQL queries and build dashboards to detect anomalies and analyze risk trends.
• Synthesize data findings into clear narratives and present recommendations to Payments Risk leadership.
• Partner with Product, Data Science, and Engineering to develop risk strategies.
• Evaluate rules and controls for effectiveness and lower false positives.
• Collaborate with Customer Experience and Risk Analytics to improve user journey without increasing risk.
• Document and improve risk team processes and procedures.
