Job summary

Space Coast Credit Union in Florida is seeking a Fraud Investigator I to protect members by investigating potential fraud, reviewing cases, and supporting loss prevention efforts. This role partners with law enforcement and internal teams to identify fraudulent activity and strengthen controls.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or specialized certification in fraud prevention or equivalent experience.
  • 3–5 years in a financial institution with fraud, claims, or disputes preferred; law enforcement communications experience helpful.
  • Starting salary stated as hourly wage in the ad; bonus eligibility noted.

Overview

As a Fraud Investigator I, you will help protect the credit union and its members by investigating potential fraud, reviewing fraud cases, and supporting loss prevention efforts. This role partners with law enforcement and internal teams, including Legal, Compliance, and Operations, to identify fraudulent activity, mitigate risk, and strengthen fraud detection and prevention processes.

Responsibilities
  • Review and investigate fraud cases; partner with law enforcement as needed; assist with loss prevention efforts.
  • Identify fraudulent activity, mitigate risk, and strengthen fraud detection and prevention processes.
  • Assist with audits and regulatory requests; share intelligence and best practices with leadership.
  • Monitor fraud trends and stay current with market developments; participate in meetings and conferences as appropriate.
  • Communicate findings to management; report changes in fraudulent activity and potential losses; stay informed about industry trends and regulations.
  • Collaborate with other departments to identify vulnerabilities and implement controls to mitigate fraud risk.
  • Work with leadership to pursue civil or legal action when appropriate to recover losses.
Qualifications
  • Associate Degree or specialized certification or equivalent field experience. ABA Certificate in Fraud Prevention, CFCS, and/or CFCP certifications a plus. Compliance training required throughout tenure.
  • 3-5 years experience in a financial institution including fraud, claims, and disputes preferred. Prior experience with law enforcement communications or legal proceedings necessary.
  • Starting Salary: $28.13 - $29.79 hourly
  • Bonus Opportunity: Eligible for ONE SCCU Annual Bonus.

  • Monday – Friday: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m; Rotating Saturdays.
