Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. is seeking an Applied Scientist to design, build and deploy machine learning models that detect and mitigate fraudulent activity across AWS.

You will work with massive datasets, develop new detection strategies, and explore GenAI techniques to strengthen fraud defenses. Ideal candidates hold a PhD or Master’s with 4+ years in CS/ML, have strong Java/C++/Python skills, and proven experience building models for business applications.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master's with 4+ years in CS/CE/ML.
• 3+ years building models for business applications.
• Experience in Java, C++, Python.
• DL model architectures, training, optimization, pruning.
• Algorithms, data structures, data mining, HPC experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy ML models to detect and mitigate fraud.
• Analyze large-scale datasets to uncover fraud patterns.
• Apply GenAI techniques to enhance fraud detection.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and operations teams.
• Prototype and iterate on detection strategies and metrics.
• Monitor model performance and robustness against adversaries.
• Communicate findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Contribute to broader fraud prevention strategy.
