Etched in San Jose is seeking a finance leader to help leadership answer big questions about investment, scaling, and growth in the next 12–24 months. You will build financial models and planning infrastructure as the company grows, shaping the finance function alongside leadership.
This early-stage role offers the chance to create processes from scratch, work cross-functionally, and operate with urgency to deliver clear, data-driven narratives for senior leaders.
Etched is building hardware for frontier intelligence. We co-design chips, racks, software, and manufacturing to deliver best-in-class throughput and latency across both prefill and decode workloads. Our first products are heavily focused on inference. This role goes beyond explaining last month's variance. You will help leadership answer the company's biggest questions: Where should we invest? How should we scale? What does growth look like over the next 12 to 24 months? Your financial models and planning will directly influence the decisions that shape the business.
You'll join at an early stage where many of the systems, processes, and planning infrastructure are still being built. This gives you the opportunity to create and shape the finance function alongside company leadership.

Etched believes in the Bitter Lesson. We are the first inference-focused frontier AI system, betting early on transformer and transformer-like architectures and on increasing model sizes. Our addressable market is the entirety of inference, unlike many of our competitors.
We are a fully in-person team in San Jose (Santana Row), and greatly value engineering skills. We do not have boundaries between engineering and research, and we expect all of our technical staff to contribute to both and work across disciplines as needed.
