Job summary

Heartland Paving Partners in Glen Ellyn, IL is seeking a Financial Analyst – FP&A & Accounting to support forecasting, budgeting, monthly financial reporting, and profitability analysis. You will collaborate with the Manager, FP&A – Operational Finance and senior leaders to drive data-driven decisions and optimize financial performance across units.

The ideal candidate has a BA in Finance/Accounting or related field and 1–3 years in FP&A or accounting, with strong analytical skills and attention

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or related field.
• Approximately 1–3 years of experience in FP&A, accounting, corporate finance, or related analytical role.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare weekly and monthly analysis of revenue, gross profit, EBITDA, and key operating metrics.
• Analyze actual results versus budget, forecast, and prior year.
• Assist with monthly and rolling forecasts for assigned business units.
• Analyze job-level profitability, including estimated versus actual revenue and costs.
• Evaluate labor, materials, subcontractor, equipment, and overhead performance.
• Analyze bookings, backlog, pipeline, and revenue conversion trends.
• Assist in identifying margin leakage and operational improvement opportunities.
• Develop analyses to help business unit leaders understand the financial impact of operating decisions.
• Work with operational teams to investigate financial variances and identify root causes.
• Support business cases for equipment, staffing, pricing, and other operational decisions.
