Job summary

Etched is seeking a Founding Optical I/O Engineer to lead the development of dedicated optical interconnects for our advanced inference systems. This hands-on role requires extensive technical expertise in silicon photonics and a strong ability to manage complex projects from concept to completion.

The ideal candidate will have over 8 years of relevant experience, including device design and product development. This position offers competitive benefits, including a housing subsidy and wellness programs.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in silicon photonics, optical I/O, or high-speed optical signaling.
• Deep expertise in photonics device and PIC design, optical packaging, or high-speed signaling.
• Experience shipping real optical I/O or transceiver product, ideally at 100G/lane.

Responsibilities

• Define and own Etched’s optical I/O architecture.
• Specify optical interconnect requirements derived from system-level constraints.
• Design and bring up photonic integrated circuits and optical packaging.
• Drive co-design between optical I/O and the chip/system.
• Own engineering relationships with optical assembly partners.
• Recruit and grow the team that will execute against the roadmap.
