Job summary

The Well is launching an in-house tax practice and seeks a Senior Tax Manager to be the founding tax professional. You will work with advisers to serve an existing client base—including individuals, retirees, and entrepreneur-business owners—while building an integrated tax service offering.

The work is broad and advisory, with real variety day to day. The role provides an opportunity to shape processes, workflows and the client experience as the tax practice grows, with potential for profit

Qualifications

• CPA required.
• 6+ years in public accounting serving high-net-worth individuals and business owners.
• Generalist background with exposure to individuals, trusts and small businesses.
• Strong communication skills and comfort working directly with clients and advisers.
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in a remote environment.
• Self-starter mentality—ability to operate independently and build, not just execute.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review individual, business, and trust returns for a mix of high-net-worth and mid-affluent clients.
• Collaborate with advisers on tax planning, Roth conversions, tax-loss harvesting, and strategy.
• Advise clients with concentrated positions, liquidity events, business ownership, and real estate on tax-efficient approaches.
• Serve as the primary tax resource for the adviser team and client base.
• Help define and build the firm's tax practice—processes, workflows, and client experience.
• Manage client relationships directly with proactive communication and responsive service.
