Job summary

BioTalent is seeking an experienced scientific leader to become the company’s first senior scientist, bridging biology, AI, and automation. You will guide computational biology workflows, ensure scientific rigor across products, and serve as the key scientific authority within the business.

You will partner with engineering, AI, and product teams to define standards, validate outputs, and help build scalable systems supporting research and laboratory workflows.

Qualifications

• PhD in Life Sciences, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, or related discipline.
• Extensive hands-on lab and research experience across multiple techniques.
• Proven experience designing and managing computational biology workflows and data-driven programs.
• Strong understanding of reproducibility, validation, experimental design, and QC.
• Ability to collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, and AI researchers.
• Experience with external research organizations or CROs.

Responsibilities

• Lead computational biology workflows: design and optimize end-to-end workflows that turn questions into results.
• Drive laboratory automation by translating manual processes into scalable, automated workflows.
• Support AI-driven scientific initiatives and integrate AI tools into workflows.
• Act as the scientific authority, reviewing protocols, outputs, and materials.
• Maintain scientific integrity across customer-facing and internal outputs.
• Develop validation frameworks, datasets, and quality controls for product development.
• Build and grow scientific teams by identifying gaps and recruiting experts.
• Engage with customers and stakeholders as a scientific representative.
• Monitor industry developments in life sciences and AI-enabled discovery.
