Job summary

Libertas Memphis is launching a new high school and seeking a dedicated Lead Teacher for grades 9–12. The role focuses on delivering Libertas-provided curriculum in a Montessori-inspired, humane-education environment.

You will contribute to founding a nationally-recognized program with family engagement, professional development, and a strong emphasis on character and literature. The position is full-time, with planning and after-school responsibilities, and reports to the High School Director.

Qualifications

• Two or more years of effective teaching experience in underserved communities.
• Inclusive and supportive setting for all students.
• Knowledge of curriculum content and students’ developmental needs.
• Skills in instructional practices and classroom management for student achievement.
• Interest in Montessori pedagogy, liberal arts, and humane education.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree and appropriate teacher license.
• Love of learning.
• Flexibility, initiative, and personal responsibility to work in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Warm and firm demeanor.
• Collaborate with a growth mindset; give and receive feedback.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement high-quality instruction aligned with our school curriculum.
• Submit lesson plans weekly for review and incorporate feedback into planning.
• Regularly observe students toinform instruction and analyze assessment data.
• Teach students with diverse needs in an inclusive environment and implement IEP accommodations with support.
• Foster habits of excellence and virtue through literature and school practices.
• Supervise students within and outside the classroom.
• Communicate frequently with families and prepare progress reports.
• Participate in biweekly check-ins with assigned academic support team and engage in professional development.
