Job summary

Des Moines Prep is seeking a founding Golf Coach to establish and lead the program for Spring 2027. You will guide after-school practices for a combined girls and boys roster, shape training standards, and set the tone for a growing varsity program.

Ideal candidates have golf or athletic program coaching experience, strong leadership, and a commitment to youth development. The role offers a semester stipend and a chance to build a lasting team culture at Des Moines Prep.

Qualifications

• Coaching Authorization required.
• Ideal - Experience in golf or organizing athletic programs; previous coaching experience (especially golf teams)
• Ability to motivate and mentor student-athletes
• Passion for youth development
• Excited to work alongside a founding team and shape the future of athletics at Des Moines Prep
• Committed to Des Moines Prep’s mission of excellence and joy for students, staff, and families
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Availability for after-school practices and evening or weekend games or tournaments

Responsibilities

• Design and implement a comprehensive golf training program for after-school sessions.
• Organize and lead practices, range sessions, on-course opportunities, and team events.
• Build a positive, inclusive team culture aligned with school values and traditions.
• Coordinate logistics for tournaments, transportation, tee times, equipment, and registrations.
• Communicate with student-athletes, families, and staff about schedules and development.
• Ensure eligibility and academic expectations are met by players.
• Build relationships with local golf courses and driving ranges for practice facilities.
• Attend coaching trainings, meetings, and golf association clinics.
