Job description

Senior Engineer – Low Latency / HPC

Quantitative Trading / Digital Assets | Fully Remote | B2B Contract

The Opportunity

An early-stage quantitative trading firm is looking for an experiencedEngineer to take ownership of the performance, scalability and cost efficiency of its cloud infrastructure.

This is a fully remote opportunity offered on a B2B contract basis, providing flexibility around location while working closely with a highly technical trading and engineering team.

This isn’t a traditional engineering position. The business is specifically looking for someone who understands the infrastructure requirements of low-latency and high-performance computing environments, while also having a strong understanding of AWS cost optimisation.

The Role

You’ll have significant ownership across the AWS environment, including:

  • Designing and optimising AWS infrastructure for low-latency and high-performance workloads
  • Identifying and resolving infrastructure bottlenecks across latency, throughput and compute performance
  • Analysing AWS usage and identifying opportunities for meaningful cost optimisation
  • Balancing performance, reliability, scalability and infrastructure spend
  • Optimising compute resources as trading workloads scale
  • Monitoring infrastructure performance and identifying areas for improvement
  • Building resilient and scalable infrastructure supporting a growing trading operation
  • Working closely with both engineering and trading teams
  • Taking end-to-end ownership of infrastructure architecture and technical decisions
What They’re Looking For

The key requirement is someone who combines deep AWS expertise with genuine performance engineering experience.

Ideally, you’ll have strong experience across:

  • Production AWS infrastructure
  • Low-latency, high-throughput and/or HPC environments
  • Compute and networking performance
  • Infrastructure performance tuning and bottleneck identification
  • AWS cost optimisation
  • Cloud architecture, scalability and resilience
  • Infrastructure automation and monitoring
  • Working autonomously and taking technical ownership

Experience within quantitative trading, HFT, electronic trading or digital assets would be particularly relevant, although strong candidates from other performance-sensitive environments will also be considered.

Contract

Fully Remote
B2B Contract

This is an opportunity to join a growing quantitative trading business where infrastructure performance has a direct impact on the trading operation, with substantial ownership over how the environment develops and scales.
