Job summary

Aran Industries seeks a hands-on power systems engineer to complete the automation of electrical design. You’ll translate electrical knowledge into code and drive automation across live data center and industrial projects, enabling repeatable design at scale.

You’ll deliver engineering packages, run studies with ETAP/SKM, and connect electrical with other disciplines. Remote work is available for US/Canada, with strong equity incentives for performance.

Qualifications

  • Understand power systems deeply and trade-offs.
  • Have designed, built, tested, or commissioned real electrical systems.
  • Be able to ship code with AI tools today, even without prior software development experience.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver complete electrical engineering packages: load calculations, SLDs, panel/cable schedules, sizing, construction sets.
  • Own power-system studies: load flow, short-circuit, protection coordination, arc flash with ETAP/SKM.
  • Engineer distribution systems, transformers, switchgear, UPS, data center power architectures.
  • Automate calculations, equipment selection, system configuration, drawing generation, and docs.
  • Build parametric design engines generating deliverables from a template.
  • Connect electrical with mechanical/structural so changes propagate across disciplines.
  • Use AI coding agents to develop and ship these workflows.

Job description

You take over and force-multiply our existing electrical design automation. We’ve already automated 50% of electrical engineering. Your job is to push it the rest of the way.

You’ll deliver real power-system engineering on live data center and industrial projects while building the parametric engine that makes electrical design repeatable for every future site.

You don’t need a software background. You need to understand electricity, power-system architecture, and the trade-offs behind engineering decisions — and be able to turn that knowledge into code with AI.

What you’ll achieve
  • Deliver complete electrical engineering packages: load calculations, single-line diagrams, panel and cable schedules, conduit and equipment sizing, and construction sets.
  • Own power-system studies, including load flow, short-circuit, protection coordination, arc flash, and related analysis using ETAP, SKM, or similar tools.
  • Engineer medium- and low-voltage distribution systems, transformers, switchgear, UPS systems, and data center power architectures.
  • Automate electrical calculations, equipment selection, system configuration, drawing generation, and engineering documentation.
  • Build and refine parametric design engines that generate electrical deliverables from a single project template.
  • Connect electrical design with mechanical and structural systems so engineering changes automatically propagate across disciplines.
  • Use AI coding agents (Claude Code and similar) to develop and ship these workflows.
You must
  • Understand power systems deeply — power flow, fault behavior, protection, grounding, equipment behavior, and electrical-system trade-offs.
  • Have designed, built, tested, or commissioned real electrical or power systems.
  • Be comfortable solving engineering problems from first principles rather than relying exclusively on conventional tools.
  • Be able to ship code with AI tools today, even without prior software development experience.
  • Have exceptional ownership and the ability to deliver technically sound solutions independently.
You do not need
  • Hold a PE license (helpful, not required).
  • Have a CS degree or traditional software background.
  • Have direct data center, construction, or AEC experience.
  • Have memorized every engineering standard. Understanding the principles underneath them matters more.

Experience with power electronics, medium-voltage systems, industrial power distribution, substations, or first-of-a-kind electrical hardware is particularly interesting.
