Job summary

Wintermeyer Ventures in San Francisco is building an early engineering team to deliver AI automation in hardware workflows. You will shape product architecture and engineering culture while delivering systems addressing complex customer needs.

You will design core workflows, build AI agents, and work with customers to ensure reliable, intuitive production-grade AI tools. Visa sponsorship is available for this role.

Qualifications

• 2–6 years of applied ML, backend, or AI infra experience.
• Strong grasp of LLM architectures and AI agents research.
• Experience building production ML/AI systems with search/IR basics.
• Hands-on Python with PyTorch, Hugging Face, W&B.
• BS or higher in CS/ML or equivalent field.
• CAD/geometry data experience is a plus.

About the Role

Join an early engineering team building AI automation for hardware engineering workflows in complex manufacturing environments. You will help shape the product, architecture, and engineering culture while delivering systems that address challenging customer needs.

What You'll Do

• Design and build core workflows and infrastructure for AI agents used in hardware engineering, including context management, indexing, and post-training systems.
• Develop AI agents and machine learning models that interpret and work with complex engineering design data in enterprise toolchains.
• Partner with customers and engineers to deliver reliable, intuitive AI workflows for production use.
• Prototype ideas, validate them with users, and ship improvements from concept through deployment.
• Contribute to early architectural decisions, engineering practices, and product direction.

What We're Looking For

• Two to six years of experience in applied machine learning, backend engineering, or AI infrastructure, or exceptional recent graduates with strong fundamentals.
• Strong familiarity with LLM architectures and current research in AI agents.
• Experience building production machine learning or AI systems, including practical knowledge of search and information retrieval.
• Strong Python skills and hands-on experience with PyTorch, Hugging Face, and Weights & Biases.
• A bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, machine learning, or an equivalent field.
• Experience with geometric data or CAD systems is a plus.
• A practical, customer-focused approach and an ability to move quickly from idea to production.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary is $180,000 to $250,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is available.
