Job summary

Ch is building Cardboard to transform storytelling and video editing. We’re hiring a Founding Design Engineer who will shape the feel of Cardboard through interactions, animations, and rendering at the intersection of design and engineering.

You’ll join a small, fast team backed by a Tier-1 fund, working across the editor timeline, microsites, and marketing assets while pushing accessibility and performance. This is a chance to raise the bar on craftsmanship.

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of easing and timing with practical experience.
• Fluent in GSAP, Framer Motion and Three.js, with shader experience.
• Strong WebGL/GLSL and understanding of rendering pipelines.
• Excellent frontend performance profiling and optimization.
• Interest in WebGPU is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship interactions, animations, and core rendering work for Cardboard.
• Optimize memory usage for large media assets via streaming and caching.
• Collaborate on editor timeline, microsites, micro-apps, and marketing components.
• Create reusable components and raise UI quality across devices.
• Experiment with new interaction patterns and shaders; ship those that feel alive.
• Write design.md files and set interface guidelines; raise accessibility.
• Wire up API endpoints when needed.
• Solve hard problems.
