Job summary

CellType is building foundation models and agent systems for biology and translating perturbations, drugs, and diseases into actionable insights. The Founding Research Scientist will own modeling end-to-end for biology programs, from problem framing to results used by pharma teams.

You will work with founders on projects that define the company, deciding how to model biology rather than following a fixed plan. Biology fluency and scale modeling are valued highly.

Qualifications

• Experience training large models at scale in biology or related domains.
• Strong ML judgment on representations and evaluation.
• Fluent in Python and ML frameworks; able to run multi-GPU experiments.
• Proven track record shipping models in production or live programs.

Responsibilities

• Own modeling for live pharma/biotech programs from problem framing to results.
• Train and fine-tune biological foundation models on diverse data.
• Design evaluations trusted by biologists and translational teams.
• Collaborate with researchers and engineers to build scalable systems.
• Decide data needs and shape experiments with partners.
