Fonzi AI is an NYC-based recruiting partner powering some of NYC and SF's top startups. We are hiring founding backend engineers across NYC and SF, with hybrid or onsite options.

You'll own backend systems, choose your stack (Python, Go, or TypeScript), Postgres, and cloud (AWS or GCP), design from scratch, deploy, monitor, and hire the next engineers.

Competenze

• 4+ years of backend development experience, including designing from scratch.
• Independent contributor capable of owning stack, database, deploy setup.
• Proficient in Python, Go, or TypeScript with PostgreSQL and cloud providers (AWS or GCP).
• Willing to be NYC or SF hybrid/onsite.

Compensation

• Typical base: $175K to $240K
• 9 founding roles top out at $300K+. Joining early doesn't mean a pay cut.
• Salary is on the request before your first call. Many roles include equity.

• 6 founding backend roles open in NYC, 2 in SF, out of 90 founding roles
• 140+ startups from pre-seed to late stage, backed by YC, a16z, Sequoia, General Catalyst and Founders Fund
• 85% are pre-seed to Series A, so teams are small and you own real scope

Who we're looking for

• 4+ years of backend work, including a system you designed from scratch
• You pick the stack, the database and the deploy setup, and own the result
• Python, Go or TypeScript, Postgres, and AWS or GCP
• Comfortable as engineer #1 to #5You live in or near NYC or SF and want hybrid or onsite
