Job summary

Joyful Health seeks a founding analytics engineer in NYC to design and implement the entire analytics stack, from data warehouse to dashboards. You will own data modeling, metrics definitions, and data quality, enabling the team to scale insights across healthcare finances.

As a core early member, you’ll shape analytics patterns, collaborate with product and engineering, and drive data-driven decisions while working in a fast-paced startup environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of analytics engineering, data analytics, or BI, building data models and metrics frameworks.
• Experience with healthcare data or financial analytics is a plus.
• Proficiency in SQL and data modeling best practices; ability to write efficient queries.
• Knowledge of modern analytics tools such as dbt, Looker, Tableau, or similar platforms.
• Familiarity with Python for data analysis and automation.

Responsibilities

• Build the analytics infrastructure from scratch—data warehouse, transformation layer, semantic layer, and visualization tools.
• Establish foundational data models and define consistent modeling patterns for scale.
• Design the metrics framework and own how success is measured across the organization.
• Create self-service analytics capabilities with dashboards for internal teams and customers to track revenue cycle performance.
• Drive the analytics roadmap with product, engineering, and customer success.
• Build data transformation pipelines using ELT/ETL patterns (dbt) for quality and performance.
• Establish governance, documentation, testing, and code review standards for the analytics team.
• Define business logic for revenue recognition and healthcare billing.
