Withum's Founders & Tech Executive Tax Supervisor will lead complex high-net-worth individual, fiduciary, gift and estate tax work and supervise staff in a collaborative office network. He or she will advise clients, research advanced tax topics, and design planning strategies aligned with founders and tech executives.

The role emphasizes mentoring, cross-office collaboration, and staying current with evolving tax rules while contributing to service excellence and firm growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting and CPA licensure or progress toward licensure.
• 4+ years of public accounting experience with tax engagements.

Job Description

Withum's Tax Services Group is made up of a team of tax specialists who ensure tax reporting obligations are met accurately and timely and help minimize or defer tax payments. Their comprehensive understanding of international, US federal, state, and local regulations, including affiliation with HLB International, supports the development of economical tax strategies. Services include Business, Individual, State & Local tax, R&D Tax Credit, International and Private Client services.

This Founders & Tech Executive Tax Supervisor role will be based in one of our offices in Los Angeles, CA; New York, NY; San Diego, CA; San Francisco, CA; Orange County, CA; East Brunswick, NJ; Red Bank, NJ; Princeton, NJ; or Whippany, NJ. You will work alongside an integrated team of experienced CPAs and industry leaders. In this position, you will take a lead role on all aspects of tax engagements, from planning to completion, including supervision/mentoring of staff and building/maintaining client relationships.

How you’ll spend your time

• Leading the preparation and review of complex high-net-worth individual, fiduciary, gift and estate, and other tax returns, ensuring accuracy and alignment with strategic planning
• Conducting advanced tax research and drafting technical memoranda addressing complex issues
• Designing and implementing tax planning strategies that optimize wealth preservation, charitable giving, and succession planning for founders and tech executives
• Serving as a trusted advisor, managing client relationships through proactive communication, strategic consultations, and responsive service
• Mentoring and supervising staff, fostering technical development, accountability, and a collaborative team culture
• Collaborating with partners and senior leadership on client engagements, thought leadership, and business development initiatives
• Ensuring compliance with evolving federal, state, and local tax regulations, staying ahead of legislative changes and industry trends
• Contributing to process improvement by leveraging technology and best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy
• Engaging in firm-wide initiatives, including innovation projects, marketing efforts, and continuing education programs that support Withum's dynamic and inclusive culture

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
• Licensed CPA, or working towards CPA certification with parts passed
• Masters of Science in Taxation is preferred but not required
• Knowledge of topics affecting founders and tech executives such as qualified small business stock, equity compensation, pass-through entities, international tax or other matters is preferred but not required
• At least 4 years of public accounting experience
• Exceptional client service and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships
• Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing projects
• Strong leadership, training, and mentoring skills, with excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills to represent the Firm well to clients’ management
• Excellent analytical, organizational, project management skills, strong attention to detail, and proven innovative problem-solving skills

The compensation for this position varies by location. For California, New Jersey, or New York residents, see below. In addition to base pay, Withum offers a competitive benefits package and bonus program (for eligible roles) based on individual and firm performance. California ranges: $95,000 – $160,000; New Jersey ranges: $100,000 – $120,000; New York City range: $90,000 – $165,000.
