Job description

Founders Associate

Location: Watertown, MA
Employment Type: Full-Time

Job Overview

Pascal develops solid refrigerant technologies for cooling a warming world. Heating, cooling, and refrigeration technologies are critical to modern life but consume enormous amounts of energy and rely on refrigerants that contribute to climate change. Pascal's technology offers a pathway to more efficient, sustainable, and affordable heating and cooling systems.

Originally spun out of Harvard, Pascal has translated its core technology into a commercial-scale refrigeration prototype and is working toward commercial deployment with a multinational beverage company. As we advance toward commercialization and the complexity of the business increases, we need to bring in flexible, high-powered support for our leadership team to ensure we continue to make rapid progress.

Pascal is seeking a Founders Associate to help drive these efforts. Working directly with the company's leadership team, and the CEO in particular, you will drive commercialization efforts with potential customers, support the CEO in day to day operations, validate commercial opportunities and assess potential markets and represent Pascal to external stakeholders.

This is a hands-on position with significant responsibility and room for growth. We are looking for someone who is comfortable taking ownership of projects, engaging with external stakeholders, and moving between high-level strategic thinking and day-to-day execution. The ideal candidate is an analytical, motivated generalist who is excited about bringing a new technology to market.

What You'll Do
  • Drive commercialization efforts: Support the CEO in working with existing and prospective customers and suppliers to advance pilot programs, assess commercial opportunities, and identify pathways toward broader market adoption.

  • CEO Support: Manage the CEO's calendar and engage directly with key company stakeholders on the CEO's behalf.

  • Validate commercial opportunities: Identify and engage prospective customers, commercial partners, and other stakeholders across the heating, cooling, and refrigeration industries to determine partnership potential.

  • Evaluate market opportunities: Conduct market research and competitive analysis, to assess potential applications and prioritization of commercial opportunities.

  • Develop presentations and reports: Prepare presentations, proposals, market analyses, and other materials for prospective customers and partners as well as internal stakeholders.

  • Represent Pascal externally: Participate in customer meetings, industry conferences, and other events to build relationships and expand awareness of Pascal.

What You’ll Bring
  • 2+ years of professional experience in business development, strategy, management consulting, commercial operations, or a related field.

  • An ability to take ownership of projects, manage multiple priorities, and work independently in a fast-moving startup environment.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and an interest in developing relationships with customers, partners, and industry stakeholders.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with technical and nontechnical audiences.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience with financial modeling, market analysis, and Excel.

  • Curiosity about complex technologies and an ability to quickly develop an understanding of new industries and markets.

  • Enthusiasm for climate technology and Pascal's mission to transform the heating and cooling industry.

Nice to Have
  • Experience in climate technology, advanced hardware, manufacturing, or energy-related industries.

  • Familiarity with HVAC, refrigeration, or related markets.

  • Experience supporting commercial partnerships, customer pilots, or business-to-business hardware sales.

  • Experience working in an early-stage startup or other entrepreneurial environment.

  • Speaks multiple languages: Korean, Japanese, Spanish, German, French, Mandarin, are all a plus.

We recognize that great candidates come from a variety of backgrounds. If you are excited about this opportunity but don't meet every qualification listed, we encourage you to apply.

Why Work at Pascal?

Pascal is tackling one of the most important challenges in climate technology: transforming how the world heats and cools its buildings, products, and infrastructure.

You'll join a small, interdisciplinary team at an exciting stage of the company's development, as we transition from technology development toward commercial deployment. You'll have the opportunity to work directly with Pascal's leadership, contribute meaningfully to our commercial strategy, and help establish the foundation for our future growth.

Our team is based at our new facility in Watertown, MA, where our engineers and materials scientists are developing the next generation of cooling technology.
