Job summary

Hamilton East Public Library is seeking a dynamic Foundation Director to lead the HEPL Foundation's fundraising, donor engagement, and daily operations. Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising program (annual giving, major gifts, grants, events, endowment).
  • Build, cultivate, and steward donor relationships with engagement and communication.
  • Oversee day-to-day Foundation operations: budgeting, gift processing, grants, and regulatory compliance.
  • Partner with Library leadership and boards to set fundraising priorities and recruit Foundation Board members.
  • Represent the Foundation at library, board, and community meetings and events.
  • Oversee communications, donor stewardship, and volunteer engagement.
  • Maintain donor records, prepare board reports and filings.

Job description

Hamilton East Public Library (HEPL) is seeking a dynamic, relationship-focused Foundation Director to lead the Hamilton East Public Library Foundation's fundraising, donor engagement, and daily operations. This leadership position is responsible for developing and implementing fundraising strategies that generate private support from individuals, corporations, and foundations to enhance Library programs, services, and initiatives.

Working closely with the Library Director/CEO, the Foundation Board, and the Library Board of Trustees, the Foundation Director serves as the Foundation's primary ambassador, building meaningful relationships with donors, community partners, and stakeholders while ensuring the Foundation's long-term growth and sustainability.

$62,730–$85,308 annually (negotiable based on experience)

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising program, including annual giving, major gifts, planned giving, corporate and foundation support, grants, special events, and endowment initiatives.
  • Build, cultivate, and steward relationships with current and prospective donors through meaningful engagement and ongoing communication.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Foundation, including budgeting, financial transactions, gift processing, grant administration, and regulatory compliance.
  • Partner with the Library Director/CEO, Foundation Board, and Library Board of Trustees to establish fundraising priorities, support strategic initiatives, and recruit and develop Foundation Board members.
  • Represent the Foundation at Library Board, Foundation Board, Friends of the Library, and community meetings and events.
  • Oversee Foundation communications, marketing initiatives, donor stewardship activities, and volunteer engagement.
  • Maintain accurate donor records, prepare board reports and meeting materials, and ensure timely management of Foundation records and required filings.
  • Collaborate with Library leadership to align fundraising efforts with the Library's strategic goals and community needs.
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Valid driver's license with reliable transportation and the ability to travel locally.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and donor database or CRM systems.
  • Successful completion of background, education, and driving record checks.
Preferred
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Five or more years of nonprofit fundraising, development, or related leadership experience.
  • Two or more years of supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising, donor cultivation, grant management, and strategic planning.
  • Knowledge of nonprofit financial management, budgeting, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
  • Availability for occasional evening, weekend, and overnight travel.
