Job summary

Family Support Services of Suncoast in Largo, FL is seeking a Foster Home Recruitment Specialist to lead outreach and event-based recruitment for traditional and specialized foster homes. You will collaborate with licensing and internal teams to ensure a steady pipeline of qualified foster families and partnerships, while guiding prospective families through screening and enrollment steps. The role requires engagement with community groups and events to advance recruitment goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred from an accredited college or university.
  • Prior experience in sales and/or business development a plus.
  • Experience as a foster parent is preferred, but not allowed if currently a foster parent in the Suncoast Region or within the last 2 years.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and complete phone inquiries and meetings with prospective foster families to ensure screening requirements are met and enrollment in pre-service training.
  • Track all recruitment outreach efforts and events.
  • Compile and report key recruitment data such as lead source and outcomes.
  • Coordinate and attend community events, orientation nights, and faith-based outreach for recruitment and partnership.
  • Represent FSS at Foster Home Association meetings and conferences as needed.
  • Recruit Foster Friendly Businesses and maintain partnerships.
  • Collaborate with training, licensing, placement and community development for events or needs.
  • Assist with outreach to foster parents for retention.
  • Participate in quarterly training and volunteer events.

Job Summary

The major function of this position includes the recruitment and retention of family foster homes through community outreach and attendance at scheduled events and assistance with retention efforts. Responsible for ensuring required amount of traditional foster homes, specialized foster homes to serve teens, large sibling groups, emergency respite, human trafficking safe homes, and developmental disabilities. Requires collaboration with outside licensing agencies and internal departments.

Job Duties
  • Responsible for receiving and completing phone inquiries and face to face meetings with prospective foster families with goal of ensuring they meet screening requirements and are able to move on to enrollment in pre-service training.
  • Responsible for the tracking of all recruitment community outreach efforts and events.
  • Responsible for compiling and reporting key recruitment information such as lead source, outcomes, etc.
  • Responsible for coordination, planning and attendance at community events, orientation nights, and targeted faith-based outreach for recruitment and partnership.
  • Represent FSS at Foster Home Association meetings, community events, and annual conferences as needed.
  • Responsible for recruiting Foster Friendly Businesses and maintaining partnership.
  • Work in collaboration with training, licensing, placement and community development as needed for coordinating events or business needs.
  • Assist with outreach to foster parents for retention as necessary.
  • Participate in FSS Quarterly Training series and other volunteer events associated with licensing.
  • Attend foster home risk committee meetings as needed.
  • Attend monthly Foster Care Review Committee meetings at DCF when deemed necessary.
  • Work closely with FSS Kids Central on various placement and foster parent needs.
  • To treat foster parents, the public and co-workers with courtesy, respect and dignity and present a positive public image.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Experience: Prior experience in sales and/or business development a plus. Experience as a foster parent is preferred, however, candidate cannot be a current foster parent in the Suncoast Region or have been a foster parent in the Suncoast Region within the last 2 years.
Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration
  • Certifications in Child Welfare/Child Protection are recommended.
  • Valid Driver’s License
Ability to
  • Understand and commit to the FSS mission.
  • Determine work priorities, assign work, and ensure proper completion of work assignments.
  • Work evenings and weekends based on monthly event schedule.
  • Work effectively with the Licensing and Resource Manager to execute programs and services
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Knowledge of
  • Crisis intervention and problem solving techniques.
  • Foster Care system.
  • Social, economic, health and/or rehabilitative services objectives.
  • Methods of compiling, organizing and analyzing data.
