Job summary

Thompson seeks a Foster Care Coordinator in Columbia, SC to support foster youth and families. You will conduct home visits, provide case management, coordinate services, and ensure documentation/compliance while engaging the community to recruit new foster homes.

The role requires a driver’s license, a BS/BA in social work or related field, at least 2 years of relevant experience, and strong communication skills. On-call weekends and some evenings may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in social work or related field.
• At least 2 years of relevant professional experience.
• Valid driver’s license and credentialing/licensing requirements for the department.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; excellent written and oral communication.
• Background check and drug screening required.
• Ability to work primarily with Clients in Columbia, SC.

Responsibilities

• Conduct home visits and provide case management and support to foster families.
• Coordinate services, manage documentation and compliance, and engage in outreach.
• Develop content/materials for outreach and recruit new foster homes; participate in on-call weekend rotation.

What will you do as a Foster Care Coordinator?

• As a Foster Care Coordinator in the South Carolina Foster Care department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the success and stability of foster placements by supporting both the youth and the caregivers. You’ll also help increase visibility and awareness of the foster care program by assisting with administrative tasks, engaging in marketing and outreach efforts, and enhancing the program’s social media presence.
• A typical day as a Foster Care Coordinator will include conducting home visits, providing case management and support to foster families, coordinating services, managing documentation and compliance tasks, and collaborating with internal staff and community partners. You may also spend time developing content or materials for outreach and engaging with the community to recruit and support new foster homes.
• As a Foster Care Coordinator, flexibility is key. Some evenings or weekends may be required based on family needs, events, or outreach opportunities. This position also includes participation in an on-call weekend rotation to ensure 24/7 support and coverage for foster families in the Columbia area in case of emergencies or urgent needs.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

• Must have a valid Driver License and meet any credentialing, licensing, and privileging standards as it pertains to the department you are in.
• Education requirement for this individual contributor role is: Bachelor’s Degree in social work or relate field
• A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite application software, excellent written and oral communication skills. Meets designation as a Qualified Professional in SC.
• All potential job candidates must pass a drug screening test, and an extensive background check is required.
• Ability to work primarily with Clients in Columbia, SC.
