Job summary

Google Public Sector Forward Deployed Engineering (GPS FDE) engineers rapidly deploy production-grade, secure AI solutions across federal and SLED environments. They code, debug, and co-build bespoke agentic workflows with customers, overcoming complex integration and security challenges within strict compliance.

We focus on safe, reliable adoption of generative AI and feed field insights back to Google Cloud Product engineering, supporting government and education clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of software development experience in Python or similar languages.
• Experience architecting AI systems on cloud platforms (GCP).
• Experience building data pipelines with vector databases and RAG architectures.
• Experience leading technical discovery sessions with customers.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a developer for complex AI applications, transitioning from rapid prototypes to production-grade agentic workflows.
• Architect and code the connective tissue between Google’s AI products and customer's live infrastructure, including APIs and data silos.
• Build high-performance evaluation pipelines and observability frameworks for accuracy, safety, and latency.
• Identify repeatable field patterns and convert them into reusable modules for product teams.
• Co-build with Customer Engineering teams to instill Google-grade development best practices.

Job description

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, a related field, orequivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience with software development using Python or similarcoding languages.
• Experience architecting AI systems on cloud platforms (e.g. Google CloudPlatform (GCP)).
• Experience building pipelines for structured and unstructured data using bothvector databases and RAG-like architectures to power enterprise AI solutions.
• Experience leading technical discovery sessions with customers.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master’s degree or PhD in AI, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• Experience implementing multi-agent systems using frameworks (e.g.,LangGraph, CrewAI, ADK) and complex patterns (e.g., ReAct, self-reflection,hierarchical delegation).
• Prolven experience architecting integrated systems, navigating real-timeinference constraints, and implementing model quantization forresource-constrained environments.
• Proficiency in Vertex AI Pipelines, Kubeflow, or MLflow to implement robustCI/CD/CT automation and experimentation.
• Knowledge of Large Language Model (LLM) native metrics (e.g., tokens/sec,cost-per-request) and techniques for optimizing state management and granulartracing.
• Designing resilient data engineering pipelines using BigQuery and VertexAIfor enterprise-scale analytics.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Serve as a developer for complex AI applications, transitioning from rapidprototypes to production-grade agentic workflows (e.g., multi-agent systems,model context protocol (MCP) servers) that drive measurable return oninvestment.
• Architect and code the connective tissue between Google’s AI products andcustomer's live infrastructure, including APIs, legacy data silos, andsecurity perimeters as part of an expert team.
• Build high-performance evaluation pipelines and observability frameworks toensure agentic systems meet rigorous requirements for accuracy, safety, andlatency.
• Identify repeatable field patterns and friction points in Google’s AI stack,converting them into reusable modules or formal product feature requests forthe Engineering teams.
• Co-build with Customer Engineering teams to instill Google-grade developmentbest practices, ensuring long-term project success and high end-useradoption.
