TRUSTEQ GmbH is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer in the United States who will work hands-on with banks, insurers, and regulated clients. You will be embedded in client IT/security teams, owning the technical approach and turning demos into production-ready solutions.
You’ll design architectures, evaluate security products, and integrate existing tools where possible. Strong German and English (C1) and willingness to travel are required.
We’re not a pure strategy consultancy: we go from strategy all the way to implementation, mainly for banks, insurers and other highly regulated companies. As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you’re right in the middle of it: You work closely with our clients, often embedded directly in their IT and security teams, and understand their processes, systems and problems. Additionally at senior level: You own the technical approach and are the first point of contact for business stakeholders. You build prototypes and applications around cybersecurity and AI, from the first demo to a solution in production. Additionally at senior level: You design architectures and make the fundamental technical decisions. You evaluate security products and startups and help clients make well-founded decisions. Where good solutions already exist, you integrate them instead of rebuilding them. You work with AI agents and coding tools, review their output critically and understand what they build. You run workshops and trainings, for example on the safe use of AI. You notice where a client’s next problem lies and build the demo that shows we can solve it. Additionally at senior level: You turn this into proposals and follow-on engagements and help evolve our cyber service portfolio. You contribute ideas to internal initiatives and make good solutions reusable for the whole team. You’ll build security depth on projects with us and learn from our cyber team. You don’t need a pentesting career, SOC experience or a degree in security for that.
Our clients have security challenges that can’t be solved with slide decks. You go straight to them, understand the problem and build a solution that works. We don’t replace security vendors. We test what they’re worth and build what’s missing. AI makes you faster along the way, but you decide whether the result is right. Here’s what you bring: You have a degree in computer science, engineering, a natural science or another subject with a strong technical focus, or comparable hands-on experience. You’ve already built software that others use, even without AI: at work, as a working student, in your own projects or at a startup. You can join straight out of university. For the senior level, you bring at least 2 years of professional experience. You get up to speed on complex topics quickly, understand what an AI gives you, and push back when a requirement or a result isn’t right. You enjoy engaging with clients and explaining complex things simply. You have excellent German and English skills (at least C1 in both) and are willing to travel for client meetings.
