Position: Business Development Manager – Music Industry

Key Responsibilities:
1. New Business Acquisition (40%)
- Build and manage a qualified pipeline of US music industry accounts (target: 50+ active opportunities at any time)
- Conduct outreach through cold calling, email, LinkedIn, industry events, and warm introductions
- Deliver compelling product demos tailored to each prospect's business model
- Drive annual contract value (ACV) of $200K-$2M+ per enterprise deal
- Develop account plans for top 20 strategic targets (record labels, streaming platforms, publishers)
- Maintain accurate CRM records (Salesforce/HubSpot) - pipeline hygiene is non-negotiable
- Forecast quarterly bookings with 90%+ accuracy
- Build and execute territory plans covering NY, LA, Nashville, Atlanta, and emerging music hubs
3. Industry Insight & GTM Strategy (15%)
- Identify whitespace opportunities and emerging segments (Web3 music, AI-native artists, sync licensing)
- Partner with Product and Marketing to refine US positioning and messaging
- Feed competitive intelligence back to product and engineering
- Identify and close strategic partnerships (distribution, integration, co-marketing)
- Build relationships with industry trade bodies, conferences, and influencers
- Represent Freebeat at NY-based industry events (Music Business NY, A2IM Indie Week, Mondo. NYC, Sync Summit)
- Develop referral networks with consultants, lawyers, and music tech advisors
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration (10%)
- Partner with Solutions Engineering / FDE team on technical sales support
- Work with Marketing on US campaigns, content, and case studies
- Provide structured customer feedback to Product team
- Support Customer Success on upsell and renewal motions for strategic accounts
- 3+ years in B2B sales / business development with a track record of closing 7-figure USD deals
- 1+ years selling into the US music industry - you have an active network we can leverage on day one
- Proven success selling SaaS, AI/ML, or media technology products to enterprise music customers
- Demonstrated ability to build a book of business from zero to scale ($1M+ ARR in prior role)
Industry Knowledge:
- Deep understanding of the US music industry value chain: labels, publishers, streaming, sync, PROs
- Familiarity with key industry players, decision-makers, and procurement processes
- Experience navigating music rights, licensing, and royalty structures
Skills:
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills - C-suite gravitas
- Strong negotiation chops - you can structure complex multi-stakeholder deals
- CRM discipline (Salesforce, HubSpot, or equivalent)
- Self-starter mentality - you thrive in ambiguity and don't wait for hand-holding
Logistics:
- Based in New York, NY (or willing to relocate immediately)
- Authorized to work in the US (no visa sponsorship available)
- Willing to travel up to 40% (LA, Nashville, Atlanta, key conferences)
Nice-to-Have:
- Existing relationships with major label digital / innovation teams (UMG's Music Audience Exchange, Sony's The Orchard, Warner Music Group's WMGx)
- Experience selling AI tools to creative / production teams
- Understanding of music tech ecosystem: distribution, mastering, sync licensing, royalty accounting
- Background in music production, A&R, or artist management (bonus, not required)
- Prior experience at a high-growth startup
