Job summary

Materialize is seeking its first Forward Deployed Engineer to embed with key customers and deliver end-to-end solutions with Materialize at the core. You will own architecture, pipelines, integrations, and production rollout, writing SQL and integration code in customer environments and shaping reference architectures for the FDE team.

Based in NYC with at least 3 in-person days per week, you will travel 20–25% for onsite engagements and key events.

Qualifications

5+ years of engineering experience in a post-sales, customer-facing role.
Strong SQL and data architecture understanding.
Experience with streaming systems (Kafka, Kinesis, Debezium/CDC, etc.).
Proficiency in Python, Java, or TypeScript.
Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
Experience taking systems from prototype to production in someone else's environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Own end-to-end technical delivery for flagship accounts from architecture design through production cutover.
Build connectors, SQL-based views, and integrations for production use.
Plan and run migrations from existing systems with controlled cutover.
Design real-time Materialize architectures for use cases like fraud detection and dynamic pricing.
Write and debug complex SQL and streaming pipelines in customer environments.
